When we got the letter from Jim Wangard, publisher of the most well-respected magazine featuring wooden boats, Classic Boating, in February, 1999, testing our interest in allowing his magazine to feature Big Sky in his publication, the boat had been the sensation of concours events at Lake Tahoe and other West Coast locations for several years.  In fact, Big Sky had just won the coveted "People's Choice" Award at Tahoe for the fourth consecutive time in 1998, a feat never before (and never since) accomplished.  She had also won a "People's Choice" Award at the ACBS International Boat Show in 1995 and the "Thunderbird Trophy" at Lake Tahoe in 1995.  Big Sky had also won 12 class awards over that time period.  We happily agreed to Jim's offer, and enjoyed a thrilling photo-shoot on a brisk Tahoe morning.  Jim and his team did a wonderful job to produce the article below.  Big Sky would go on to win several more "People's Choice" Awards at Lake Tahoe and elsewhere, including the all-time record 8 consecutive wins at the Tahoe Concours.
