History
Originally owned by the Henry Kaiser family, creators of Fleur du Lac at Lake Tahoe, 007 is an original Lake Tahoe boat with an illustrous history. Used as Edgar Kaiser's everyday race boat on Lake Tahoe while he campaigned the famous Hawaii Kai III to the Gold Cup Championship in 1958, 007 has a bit of racing history on her own. Driven by both Edgar and Henry Kaiser's wife Ale Kaiser in Lake Championship races, 007 could not equal the successes of Edgar's other race boats .....
Restoration History
Like practically every other wood boat her age, 007 has been restored many times. The most recent makeover in 2020 through 2022 included a new bottom, refastening the planks, refinishing the deck seams, thoroughly cleaning and repainting the bilge, freshening the interior, and last, but not least, reworking the "hemi" engine and superchargers to produce maximum horsepower. The 8 cylinder Chrysler "hemi" engine in 007 sports two McCulloch superchargers feeding cool air through a 4 barrel carburetor. The result is more than 500 horsepower according to the dyno.
